OUR MINES.

NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL,

The rumor spread last night to the effect that Mr E. Graham was about to commence an action against this company and that Mr. J. A. Miller had been re« tamed by that gentleman, caused a fall in the price or scrip, sales being effected at 40s, but they rose again this morning, and at noon were in demand at 43s 6d. The following telegram was posted in Mr Frater's window last night :—" Imperial dividend 3s, payable Tuesday; books close Saturday." The gold smelted yesterday realised £2 16s 4d per ounce, or a total of £4467 18s 9d. Out of this the dividend takes £2700, leaving the; good balance of a little over £1760 to go towards future expenses, though by the look of the mine at present it is more likely to go to pay another dividend before long. The reef in the drive towards the Southern Cross was being; broken this" afternoon. Only a couple of .holes had been fired.in it up to 4 o'clock, and a few pounds of picked stone had come to hand. It will probably be broken right up to the face by to-morrow morning. The quartz is fully two feet thick. The manager will start to morrow to take out the leading stope west of the break. ADELAIDE. I

The drive south on the City of Manchester lode at the low level is being pushed ahead, and a block of fully 200 ft. in length is now opened up. The reef still continues good iv the drive, where the best gold has so far been obtained, which speaks well for the prospects of .the next level. Crushing is now proceeding at Bull's battery, and the return will be banked on Saturday. The quartz is shaping for a similar yield to last parcel. GOLD .RETURNS. Hape Cbeek.—Greenville and party have crushed 2 loads at the Alburnia mill for the good return of llozs 4dwts melted gold. '
