The winze east of the shaft broke through to the slopes this morning, creating a good current of air. The specimens and picked stone, amounting in all to about 13cwt, will be put through the mill on Monday, and cleaning up and re tori ing taken place on Tuesday. BKIGrHf SMILE. Besides continuing the stopes opened up by the late proprietors and driving oast in the lode at the Multum in Parvo level, the manager has lately put in an intermediate level from the stopes, 29ft. above the low level. The face is now in 35ft., and in breaking down the lode yesterday afternoon 651bs of good specimen stone were bagged. The country also looks much better, and a slight improvement is noticeable in the face of the low level also. By driving ahead another 60ft. MrGarvey expects to meet with a rich footwall leader, and should also at that point be in the neighborhood of McCade's run of gold.

The water was not reduce 1 by this morning, but ii will do*n in time to start work on Monday. The manager has received instructions from the directors to continue the south drive at the 640 ft level 100 ft, and the work will be pro ceeded with as soon as the level is re paired, which should be during the coming week, so that by Monday week the contractors should have started in the face. This is a good thing for the Thames, as it is considered by those who know most about it that the probabilities of gold being met with are very good.
