• .The manager reports under date October 23:—At No. 7 level, 34 feet has been driven on the reef since the contractors started, the last portion proving the"best. The drive in No. 8 level, which was started in the mullocky vein, has bren stopped. Gold was to be seen to-day around the winze and towards the ea9t end of the stope. No. 9 level: Reef is 6 feet thick, carries a good de.il of mineral and looks well for crushing. Queen of the May reef is in 40 feet from the main reef, is 20 inches thick, and carries a fine mineral vein up the-ctentre. - At last break ing down some good 'patches of gold were seen in the quactz. Drive on main reef east: The soft ground continues tt) carry q^uartz and there us a:;chtfnge come into the face. From indications shewing a solid reef will Iprobably be come upon before long. Piako .shaft has . been cleaned and repaired down to No. 4 chamber, Tbe 7quartz from stopes for the last eight days, which is being crushed, yielded within .a'.. ( fe.w r ounces,of the same amount of amalgam as the former eightj days'crushing. The mostof the amalgam at present is being got from the berdans.
REUBEN PAKfi. , Under date October 23, the manager writes : We are, still driving on the cross i lode, and have seen a little gold in every; breaking down during the week^/ We; have cut through 6' or 7 small stringers going into the footwall, and the hanging', wall, three of which ,have sshown somej nice gold. They are small, but I expect them to make larger when driven on. !
