At the Victoria Amateur Turf, Club meeting at Caulfield to-day, the Caulfield Guineas Race was won by Mr W. Pearson's Frying PanVMi" H.*Burreli'l Bocira 2, Sir T. Elder's Guesswork 3. Twelve horses started, and the race was woneasily. '•■■V-;J ■ ; Sydney, Saturday; At the conclusion of the final race for the Punch rowing trophies to-day, Rush led by a length and a half, Beach (2) beating Laycock ,(3) .by a ( couple of lengths ; Trickett ( 54) was last for nearly the whole of the way. The race took place under favorable.circumstances, the river being smooth. It is estimated that fully twenty thousand persons witnessed the race. \ > . . Melbourne, This day. The Orient steamship* Ligufia, from London via the Cape, has arrived at the BeadSt and. has been placed inquarantine owing to the prevalence of small-pox at Capetown.
. A boat capsized in the Yarra yesterday, and two persons were drowned. ; . j
