OUR MINES.

QUEEN OF BEAUTY.

Retorting took place early this morning for the good yield of 3400zs retorted gold, for which about 150 loads have been treated. This brings the return for a little over a month's crushingup to 1566f ozs,a splendid return, when it is remembered that the amount crushed is only 418 loads. NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL. A few pounds of excellent picked stone were obtained yesterday from the sea ward drive at No. 4, and the stiff at the mill, a good deal of which comes from this end, is shaping for a much better return than last month. The best of the gold continues to come from the floor'of the drive, which augurs well for the richness of the next level. Another fact that favors this belief is that a flinty is now showing in the drive, dipping towards the leader, and at the junction, which will be met with a few feet under the floor of the present level, some good gold is pretty sure to be obtained. In the eastward end the lode is somewhat pinched at present, but will no doubt regain its usual size shortly. SOUTHERN CROSS.

The winze on No. 2 reef from No. 3 'level of the Prince Imperial shaft is now down fully 30ft. The leader is not very large, and is rather split up at present. A little gold has been seen in sinking, and the quartz contained good mineral till the lode split. It has not yet been decided when a start will be made to erect winding machinery at the Crown Princess shaft, but a meeting of directors was to be held to-day, and more definite information will no doubt be to hand shortly. THAMES GOLDEN CBOWN. The general dirt continues to shape for a good return, and a little picked stone is coming to hand from the No. 3 leader at the 100 ft level. The manager expected to finish timbering the workings on Clark's leader at the 170 ft level to day, so a start will betaade on quartz to morrow.

SEYMOUfi. A new shaft has been started about 70ft north of the present one in the Lucknow portion of the ground, and'according to the plan it should" po down upon the specimen leader. It is in an excellent class of country for working in. The plan shows that at least fiyo leaders .should traverse the ground. — ~ GOLD RETUftN S. Moanata^bi.—Thomas and party have completed a crushing at the company's mill for the yield of 19ozs 3iwts gold. ',[ | Caledonian.—Lewis aud party have crushed 19 leads, takeu from the old stopes on the specimen leader at No. 1 level, at the Herald mill for the return of 48ozs 19dwts gold.
