DUNEDIN.
This day. Mclntosh's hotel at Blades was bjarßt down on Sunday. The loss as estimated at £1200. It was insured for £500 in the Colonial office. In the Supreme Court John Mason and James Hartley, for robbery from the person, were sentenced to six months' and John Madden to three years' imprisonment. Mr Stout wished Mason's case reserved for the Appeal Court, as he contended only a case t simple larceny hid been made out;, biu the Judge held there was sufficient cvi* dence to support the indictment. In the case of the lads Williamson and Ahem, charged with burglariously entering several offices in town, the Crown case rested entirely on the unsupported testimony of an accomplice Jones, who yesterday pleaded guilty. The Judge directed the jury to acquit the prisoners, which was done.
