British Troops Returning'

Alexandbia, Sept. 25.

H.M.S. Minotaur, flag-ship of Channel Squadron, sails for Aboukir to morrow to re-embark the marines, and will then proceed to Malta. The remainder of the squadron will follow at an early date. Cairo Illuminated.

The Khedive, accompanied by his Minister, and Sir E. B. Malet, the British Consul-General, arrived at Cairo to day. The city was brilliantly decorated and illuminated to-night in honor of the British success in Egypt.

Baker Pasha's Task

It has transpired that the Khedive, with the approval of England, has invited Baker Pasha to undertake the re-organi-sation, of the Egyptian army. The task has been undertaken by Colonel Baker. He gives appointments to all British officers now serving in the Turkish gendarmerie. It is probable that vacancies in the Imperial service will be filled by Grerman officers.

Alexandria, Sept. 26.

The Khedivo held a crowded reception to-day at the Palace at Cairo. His Highness took occasion during the reception to rebuke the Ulemas for meddling in political matters. Sir Garnet Wolseley Indisposed. Sir Garnet Wolaeley is indisposed. His illness is not, however,, reported to be of a serious nature. . London, September 26. Mr John Dillon Resigns. Mr John Dillon has resigned his seat for Tipperary in the House of Commons, owing to failing health.
