Melbottene. The famous Garden Gully United mine Sandhurst, has declared its two hundredth dividend. The total profits distributed by this company reach the large sum of £780.000r The product of this mine is. for the last 12 years, 12 tons of gold, and its prospects are still flourishing. During the last six years operations have been chiefly confined to the_66B feet and 745 feet levels,, where there is still an immense body of quartz to be worked, which is estimated to keep^ the batteries employed for another sixyears. Mrs Edward Manning, the wife of an bbtelkeeper at the Terrieks, was killed by lightning .during a storm. On Friday evening she was seen from the door of her house, at about half a mile distant, coming home about half past 5 ; but: not returning at dark, a search waslnatituted, and she was found at daylight on Saturday, near the spot where she was last seen. Singularly enough, one side was quite livid, but the clothes of deceased were uninjured. The dismissal of four State School teachers was decided upon at a meeting of the Executive to. day. The charges were drunkenness, gross indecency, and unbecoming behavior. In the fourth case an assistant teacher was dismissed for prevarication when under examination before the board appointed to inquire into one of the charges. The amount of dividends from mines in the Ballarafe district for the past week was the largest ever declared, amounting to over£ai,oop. A ;; J
