AUCKLAND.
This day.
Mr Lambert, Fellow of the Koyal Astronomical Society, identifies the comet with that of 1812, which Professor Encke predicted would return in 70 years. Mr Lambert scouts the idea that the comet has been in contact with the sun, saying no astronomer has sufficient data wherewith to compute any element of the comet's orbit, and were such data to hand there has not yet been sufficient time for the completion of so laborious a task.
