The Auckland Women's Immigration Society, formed in January last, to cooperate with the .English society in sending out- a suitable class of domestic servants, wrote, on 23rd August to the Hon. W. liolleston, Minister of Immigration, asking the Government to secure the services of the Women's Immigration Society, London, in nominating a superior class of experienced domestic servants, the Auckland society guaranteeing to suitably receive them, provide board and lodging until jhey secure eligible situations, and altogether to relieve the Government of responsibility and expense on their arrival in Auckland. The following telegram has been received in reply.—" I have to thank you for your letter of August 23rd. Government has had ifc under consideration, and will be glad to avail itself of the assistance offered by the society formed in Auckland to co«operate with the Women's Emigration Society, London, in the introduction of a superior class of experienced domestic servants. The Agent-General will be instructed by the outgoing mail to ( communicate with the secretary in London, and to take nominations from the society and satisfy himself of the suitableness of those proposed to be nominated. I telegraph this in advance of the mail in order that your society may. be able to advise the London society by the outgoing mail of its willingness to make provision for the immigrants on their arrival, thereupon relieving us of all responsibility or expense in terms of your letter. Governmentiwill instruct the Agent.General to send a ship direct to Auckland.—W. RotiEsTON." The Secretary of the London Society was advised by last mail what had been arranged, and it may be hoped that action will be taken at once, and that a regular supply of superior domestic servants may through this agency be secured,
