The New Zealand Mails Burned.
A cable message from London, dated Sept. 14, has been received to the effect that the homeward Australian and New Zealand mails which left Auckland on August 15, and were bein& conveyed from New York in the Union line's steamship Alaska, have been burned, a fire having occurred in', the mail room aboard that vossel. A number of registered letters were among the mail destroyed.
