SYDNEY V. WELLINGTON.
Wellington, Saturday. The football match yesterday resulted in an easy victory for Sydney by 2 goals and 2 tries (14 points) to Wellington's 1 try (2 points). There was splendid weather, and the ground was in good order. It is estimated that 5090 were present. Sir James Prendergast, the acting Governor, was present during the afternoon. The play of the Sydney- men was much admired. This day. The weather is % fine for the football match between Wanganui and Sydney, which commences at two o'clock this afternoon. The Australians are the favorites. Wanganui v. Sydney. Two spells of 40 minutes each. In the first spell, Wanganui scored a try, but it was disallowed on account of the second man touching it.
