This day. The City Council authorities are in communication with" Wellington as to the best, method of working the Contagious, Diseases Act. The former have suggested that a' ward at' the Hospital should be Bet apart as a lock hospital, and that the hospital surgeon should be appointed the visiting surgeon of that institution. No reply has yet been received.

Charles Davis was committed for trial on a charge of the larceny of £100 from the Kamo Hotel, Wangarei.
