The Company was originally projected for the purpose of acquiring blocks of good suburban land, to be re-gold in lots suitable for residence sites, and recently, with the view of adding to the value of their lands, by affording greater facilities of ' access, the Provisional Directors hate entered Jnto arrangements for providing a system of TRAM* WAYS for the CITY and SUBURB*. An agreement has been made with the City Council by which the Company has secured the EXCLUSIVE BIGHT TO CONSTRUCT AND WORK SUCH TRAMWAYS FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTI"ONE YKARS, and the terms of the concession leave no room to doubt that the undertaking will be advantageous; to the community and profitable to the proprietors. \ , ■ ' The properties already purchased consist of several blocks of choice land, comprising tht St. Helier's B*y Estate of 620 acres, the Remuer* Land Company* Estate of 117 acres, and tbe Northcate Estate of 1012 acre'pl amounting in all to 1749 acres, the whole being admirably adaptod for villa sit.c», combining the advantages ot extensive frontage to the Waitemata Harbour, picturesque scenery, and soil of excellent quality, together with, proximity to tbo city. The Directors call special attention to the great increase of value which has resulted from the construction of Tramways in suburban districts in other places, aniounliug tv some cases to ten times the original out, and as the Company's lands were purchased before any provision of the kind had been made, it is reasonable to anticipate a similar favorable result in the present instance. The Directors have secured the service! of a gentleman of large experience in the practical working of tramways in the British Islands, and can confidently recommend the enterprise to their fellow-colonists, in the full conviction that it will prove a good investment.
