HAWERA.

This day. Land Sfls at Hawera.

No less than 475 applications for land have been made, some of which are informal. The informality in most cases was caused by persons wishing to apply not having obtained the necessary declaration before a J.P. In some cases it is understood that there is a doubt whether the applicants are of the statuary age, namely, above the age ot 18 years. The total cash received at Hawera with applications was £7599 8s lOd, and £625 8s at Patea, making the gross total deposits £8,224 16s lOd. There were several sections of both rural and village settlements land for which there was no applicant. . Several persons applied for more than one section, in which case only one application can be regarded as in order.
