Parliamentary Notes.

[By Tblegeaph.l (jbom oue own cobbeßpondent.) Wellington, Last night. The Public Petitions Committee report in the case of Mr John Alexander Wilson of Tauranga, late a Judge of the N.L.C., that the Committee are of opinion that the petitioner is not entitled to the com* pensation claimed for the purchase of native land, as such claim was abandoned on his appointment as Judge of the Native Lands Courts. With respect to the claim for consideration for loss of office, the Committee are of opinion that owing to a want of harmony between the Chief Judge and the petitioner, it is not expedient in the public interest that he be re-appointed a Judge of the Native Land Court, but the Committee recommended ■ that some other appointment in the public service for which he is suitable be offered him. The Public Petitions Committee report in the" case of James Farrell, late Detective, that" Having carefully considered the case of the petitioner, the Committee are of opinion that he has some claim for consideration, : and recommend if he cannot be reinstated in the police-force that on account of his long service and previous good conduct he receive employ* ment in some other department of the public service for which he is suitable."
