The Company was originally projected for the purpose of acquiring blocks of good suburban land, to be re-sold in lots suitable for residence sites, and recently, with the view of adding to the value of their lands, by affording greater facilities of access, the Provisional Directors have entered into arrangements for providing a system of TRAMWAYS for the CITY and SUBUBB S. An agreement has been made with the City Council by which the Company has secured the EXCLUSIVE BIGHT TO CONSTRUCT AND WORK SUCH TRAMWAYS FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTYONE YEARS, and the terms of the concession leave no room to doubt that the undertaking will be advantageous to the community and profitable, to the proprietors. The properties already purchased consist of several blocks of choice land, comprising the St. Helier's Bay Estate of 620 acres, the Remuera Land Company's Estate of 117 acres, and the Northcote Estate of 1012 acres, amounting in all to 1749 acres, the whole being admirably adapted for villa sites, combining the advantages of extensive frontage to the Waitemata Harbour, picturesque scenery, and soil of excellent quality, together with proximity to the city. ■ The sales already effected have averaged £200 per ,aci;e in Remuera, and £120 at St. Helier's, and land adjacent to the Northcote Estate has been recently sold at £100 per acre. The Directors call special attention to the great increase of value which has resulted from the construction of Tramways in suburban districts in "other places, amounting in some cases to ten times the original oat, and as the Company's lands were purchased before any provision of the kind had been made, it is reasonable to anticipate a similar favorable result in the present instance. It is intended to proceed with the construction of the lines already agreed upon as soon a.s the necessary materials can be obtained, the Company having agreed to open the traffic and have cars running WITHIN EIGHTEEN MONTHS from date of concession. The Directors have secured the services of a gentleman of large experience in the practical working of tramways in the British Islands, and can confidently recommend the enterprise to their fellow-colonists, in the full conviction that it will prove a good investment. Applications have been received for 65,000 Shares, leaving 60,000 still to be taken up. Plans of the several Estates may be seen, and all other information regarding Articles of Association, &c, may be obtained on appli- j cation to the Secretary, at the Company's Office, Shortland Street, Auckland. Applications for Shares, accompanied by a deposil of two shillings and sixpence per Share, will be received by the members of the Auckland Brokers' Association, or by the Secretary, up to the 21st day of August, 1882, and shares will be allotted according to the priority of application. /CORRECT NUMBERS Guarantee-!, at \J the EVENING STAR Th»mß» RINTING executed in any Color, and the best designs, at the Stab Office, Albert street Samples to be Been on the premise a.
