England was resumed at Portsmouth to day. The weather was again very fine, and a very large number of spectators visited the groiind during the day, great interest being taken in the match. The Australians^ with one wicket- down, continued their first innings, which closed for a total of 141. The highest scorers-were —Blackham, caught, 35; Bannerman, lbw., 26; and Horan, bowled, 18. The bowling of the Englishmen was very destructive, and their fielding excellent. The Home team then commenced their second innings, and when stumps were drawn for the day-had scored 127 for the loss of six wickets. ,

London, August 19. Australians again. Beaten. The return cricket match between Australians and United South of England, was resumed today at Portsmouth. There was again a large attendance, and the weather was very fiDe The Home team with six wicketsdown for 127 continued their second innings. The remaining four wickets fell for 25, and the innings closed for a total of 152. The Mod. A. Lyttelton was highest scorer, with 61 runs. The Australians, requiring 207 runs to win, went in for their second innings. None of the batsmen, saveßaonermaii, Murdoch, and Bonnor, made any stand against the bowling of the Englishmen ; the innings at length closed for a total of 187, thus leaving the Home team winners by 20 runs. In the Australians' second innings Bannerman was caught for 3(\]Mardoeh caught for 43, and Bonnor caught and bowled for 66.
