Mb Mobgan-Mobbis, recently of the Thames, has been appointed editor of the Herald, Gisborne. An attempt was made afc the B.M. Court Christ church, yesterday, to get a man fined on the ground that the Licensing Bench had granted him a license for an unsuitable house, and therefore the license under which he had been Belling liquor was Toid. The Bench declined to interfere with the Licensing Committee, to whom, they saicl, the application ought to haye been made. WIIXIAJI BBOWNIBH, who was arrested the other day at Te Arohn, was committed for trial yesterday on two charges of forgery at Auokland. Thb Board of Education is great on small economies. Yesterday, aa application fur a chimney to the Ohiuemuri School was made. Mr Luke asked the amount of cost, about £7. \ Mr Clark moved, "That it be erected, the cost not to ,exceed £6;" seconded by Mr I/MBhley, arid carried.
