AFTERNOON SITTING.

Wellington, Yesterday. The Houselmet at 2 30. Replying to questions put, it was slated that the Trust Commissioner at Gisborne refused to accept declaration forms unless they had been issued from his office ; bis object being to prevent the information required by these forms from being tampered with. On the motion of Mr McDonald a bill for the settlement of native claims in the Mokau and Waikori districts was read a first time. On Mr Seddon's motion the Mining on Harbor Board Reserves Bill, Mining on Education Beserves Bill, and Mining on Water Race Reserves Bill were discharged from the paper. Mr Dick moved that iv the absence of Mr Hamlin, Col. Trimble should take the chair of Committees.

Mr Shrimski objected, owing to Col. Trimble's conduct on the previous night, but ultimately he withdrew his objection ; two hour's discussion, however, took place over the matter, particularly in regard to Col. Trimble's conduct on the previous evening. Ultimately the motion that he should take the chair was agreed to, and the House went into Committee on the Coroners Bill, which passed through Committee, one clause being altered to make coroners' juries six instead of twelve; five requiring to agree to a verdict. The bill was read a third time.

Ou the motion for the third reading of the Law Practitioners' Bill, Mr Holmes moved its recommittal to strike out clause three. Discussion on this was proceeding up to the usual half hour's adjournment.

This day. After the usual adjournment the motion by Mr Holmes to recommit Sir G. Grey's Law Practitioner's Bill to strike out clause 4 was, after a long discussion, carried by 33 to 29. In Committee a further long discussion took place, and ultimately progress was reported, and the House rose at 2.2.
