Alexandria, August 16. Council of War. Sir Garnet Wolseley, commanding the British forces in this country, presided at a Council of War which was held here to-day to decide upon the plan of operations <o be pursued by the British troops. Sir Garnet subsequently visited Eamleigh, where the quarters allotted to the Coldstream and Grenadier Guards were examined, and the troops inspected. Constantinople, August 16. Arabi Deposes the Sultan, The natives round Kafradowar are spreading a report that Arabi has called a meeting of the Ulema, or high priests, and has obtained from them a "fatua" (a sacred or clerical decree) deposing the Sultan, Abdul Hamid 11., from his position as head of the faithful, and appointing Arabi Cherif of Mecca in his place.
