The inaugural meeting of the Young Men's Christian Association will be held to-night.

Two men named respectively Charles Turner and Norris Kensington, were admitted into the Hospital last night suffering from injuries received under the following circumstances :—lhey were working yesterday morning on the bridle track from Te Aroha to Tauranga, and after charging a hole and lighting the fuse, had withdrawn till the shot had fired. As the powder did not explode as soon as usual, they 'thought it had missed fire, and proceeded to withdraw the charge. While engaged in doing this the charge exploded, seriously injuring Turner's left eye, and disfiguring bis face with powder, and burning Kensington's arm and face. They were brought to town by the Memsßhib, and their injuries attended to by Dr Payne who reports that the most serions injury is to Turner's eye, the other damages being com* pturatively slight. Both passed a fair night.

Mb J. H. NiOHOMiS, the Waihi proipector, has pegged oub a claim of 80 acres on the Waio-Karaka flat, and named it the Queen of England^ It ia bounded -northerly by'the Southern Cross and Old Beach, and easterly by the City of London and Queen of Beauty mines. Both the City of London and Queen of Beauty reefs strike through its entire breadth, and, as both bodies of quartz have yielded large returns, it is reasonable to suppose that they will prove payable. Ifc is intended to form a company, and 15 of the promoters' shares will be offered to the public to raise money to get the license, &c. ! This is the fourth claim, which has recently \ been taken up in this locality, fbe incentive being, no doubt, the recent discoveries in the Queen of Beauty and New Prince Imperial mine?. Da PATifit,.
