Alexandbia, August 13. Skirmish with Aratt.
A body of the rebel Egyptian troops, commanded by Arabi in person, made an advance to-day against Fort Mex. Their approach was, however, detected by the
Qutfjosts, and a body of British troops from • the "■force was despatched against them; The enemy was repulsed without difficulty, and retreated to the interior.
Constantinople, August 13. Turkey Shuffling again. The proposed military convention between the British Government and the Porte, a draft of which was laid before the Conference by Lord Dufferin yesterday, has not as yet been completed, and notwithstanding the concession which the British Government has offered with re- : gard to the command of Ottoman troops in Egypt, the Porte is still disinclined to aacept the convention, and further negotiations are expected to take place. Lonbon, August 13. It is proposed that the Khedive shall command the combined forces in Egypt. The Conference of Powers will disperse as soon as the Convention is signed between England and Turkey. Arabi is reported to be very strongly entrenched. Alexandbia, August 33. Ihe Coldstream and Grenadier Guards have been quartered at the Eoyal Palace Bamleh, near this city.
