England and Turkey Agree.
Lord Dufferin, the British Ambassador, has submitted to the Conference a draft of the military convention between the British Government and the Porte for the settlement of the Egyptian difficulty. By the terms of the Convention, the British Government waives the demand previously made that the Turkish troops which may be despatched to Egypt shall be subject to the British command, but insists upon concerted action between the two forces.
London, August 12. Canal: Collective Protection.
The Conference has adopted the proposals of the Italian Ambassador that the European Powers should establish a collective naval protection over the Suez Canal, but egree that England shall be free to take any military action that may be deemed necessary in the Canal.
Alexandbia, August 13.
The Coldstream and Grenadier.Guards arrived here to-day. They are, however, inactive, pending the ajrrival of Sir Garnet Wolseley, who is expected to arrive here on Tuesday next.
London, August 13. Xfo.hommodan Rising Feared-
News has been received here that the agitation against the Christians is spreading through Syria and Morocco, and it is feared that fanatical outbreaks of the Mahommedans may occur.
