At a meeting of cricketers last night, it was decided to send a team South during the next season and to communicate with the Southern Association re expenses.
Mr Brophy, Immigration Officer, has -received a notification from Wellington to the effect that the nominated system ot immigration would be resumed again. At the period of the stoppage, he had 300 applications on the records. Some 80 applications were received by Mr Brophy daring the first three days of the week, and others continue [to pour in from all parts of the country from persons desir* ous of nominating friends; ; The maximum age is 35 years for single persons and 45 years.for married, people. Nominators pay £5 towards the passage money, but in tbe case of single women are only called on to pay £1 for outfit.
Major Derrom was appointed Clerk of Works for the City Council out of fiftyone applicants.
