[Br Tblkgbaph.] (fbom oue own cobbespondent.) Wellington,. Last night. On Tuesday next C. J. Johnston is to ask the Defence Minister if he will place on the Supplementary Estimates a sum sufficient to pay to each and every volunteer who took part in the late operations against Te Whiti an amount equal to the pay already paid to and still claimed by each member of the Thames Volunteer force' for the like service. The Post understands Lady Gordon, family, and suite leaves by the s.s. Wakatipu, which sails for Sydney on the 18th inst. Her Ladyship will meet Sir Arthur
Gordon in Sydney, and it is understood that thoy proceed thence to England.
. • This day. Brown's bill for the Drainage of Mines, provides the owner of any efficiei.t machiae or appliance employed in raising, lifting, or draining water from any mine shall be entitled to receive contributions for the expense of raising or draining water from such mine from the holders or persons working adjacent mines benefited by such machine which adjacent mines from formation of the ground or strata or from the mode of working, the same shall have added to the volume or quantity of water to be raised. If persons from whom contributions are required refuse to contribute the amount stated in the notice, or for 21 days neglect to signify their assent thereto, it shall be lawful for the owner of the machine to commence an action in the Warden's Court. A summons shall be issued and all proceedings be conducted in like manner as in ordinary actions in the Warden's Court. Any time any sum due in respect of contributions is not paid as directed, plaintiff may enforce payment by execution in forms applicable to ordinary proceedings in the Warden's Court.
