A steamer intended for the Te Aroha* Thames trade was launched at Holmes' yard, North Shore, this morning, and christened by Miss Foss, .daughter of Mr Foss, 'Queen street. The vessel was gaily decorated with flags, and took the t water rery nicely, and the anchor was dropped a short ; distance from the shore, where she at present lies, drawing about 18 inches of water aft and 5 inches forward. Mr Burton, the principal owner and others who were present were highly pleased with the Teasel. ... It is anticipated she will prove a very suitable boat for the trade" "Upon which she is about to, enter. The small draught of water renders her specially adapted for the river trade. She is fitted with twin screws. The steamer will register about 40 tons, her dimensions being: Length of keel, 65ft.; beam, 13ft. 6in.; depth of hold, 4ft. 6in. She is built'on the diagonal principle. The workmanship appears creditable. A large and comfortable cabin is provided for the accommodation of passengers, and the fittings are substantial and appropriate. Messrs McCoskrie. and Son furnish the machinery, having two nine-inch cylinders capable of propelling the steamer at a rate of nine knots per hour.
