Our School Books.

At the meeting of the Board of Education on Friday afternoon, the following report by Messrs O'Sullivan, McArthur, and P. Peacocke upon the class books authorised under the resolution of Mr Laishley on tlie 261h of May last was read, viz.:—We have the honor to report that we have,carried out the instructions contained in the resolution of the 26th of May respecting the reduction of the list of books authorised to be used in this district. Marked out : Writing, Parnell's Copy Books ; Arithmetic Manson's Progressive exercises (junior and senior); grammar, Allan's and Cornwell's Grammar (junior and senior); Uollin's New hlementary Grammar; composition, Allen and Corawell's Young '. omposer; Geography; Nelsou's Jioyal Geography, Coiliu's Modern Geography (Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand) ; Petrie's New Zealand Geography; history, Longman's Epochs of History, Collins's Scbmidtz's History of England ; elementary science, Chamber's Political Economy. The report was adopted, the recommendations to be carried into effect.
