Returns of fees raised at the Supreme Court offices during year ending March, 1882: Dunedin, £1675 16s; Christchuroh, £2317 9s ; Wellington, £1545; Auckland, £1254; Total £6792 11s.

The reason of his retirement is that he is to be appointed manager of the Trust and Loan Company vice Buchanan, who has been given a better appointment in Melbourne. He gets from the Trust and Loan £500 a year. The question discussed privately here is why should he get his pension if he is still able to serve P
