WANGANUI.

This day. A man named David Hannah, a seaman on board the T. B. Taylor, was drowned in the Wanganui Hirer yesterday afternoon. The vessel was lyicg at the heads, and Hannah and another man named Robinson obtained permission from the captain to come to town in the boat. When they were about half a mile away from the ship, and tacking, the boat capsized. Hannah struck out for the shore, but cramped and sank. The captain signalled to the pilot, who went out, and found Robinson hanging on to the boat, and picked him up. Hannah was for some time on board the Stella and Te Anau, and has friends in Christchurch.
