Yesterday. ' A petition to join the city from Grafton and Earangahape has been sent to Wellington. The former had bTer 200 signatures, and the latter 300. It is probable tbe Nelson will remain at Russell for several days, as the Commodore is desirous of obtaining tbe latest news re the Egyptian trouble. He then proceeds to Levuka. Kempthorne, tbe seaman drowned from the cutter Triad, fell overboard whilst walking along the plank to the stern. The mate got into a dingy, but the man sank when the boat was a yard from him. The cutter left without hands, and ran ashore near Devonport, but got off without injury.
