The , Governments of Victoria and South Australia hare concluded arrangements for the connection of the Eailway system of the two Colonies at the border.
Sailing this afternoon: The Union Cos. s.s. Arawata for the Bluff. Melbourne, July 15. The question of the abolition of the Stock Tax has been referred to the Tariff Commission now sitting. STDNEf, July 17. A suggestion has been made that the Government should purchase gunboats for the defence of Sydney harbor. Bank Robbed by Accountant. Mcßride, the accountant of the Austra^ Han Joint Stock Bank at Grafton, and two accomplices, have been arrested in connection with the alleged sticking up of the bank by bushrangers on the 14th instant. The sum of £2754, which the bushrangers were said to have stolen, was only hidden, and has since been found. The arrest of Mcßride has been made in consequence of information furnished by one of his accomplices, who turned informer. A Greater than Denton.
The Rev. Joseph Cook, of Boston, United Statea, who is on a visit to this colony, is preaching and lecturing to immense audiences here.
