The Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR P.M. Resurrexi. MONDAY, JULY 17. 1882.

Hn Worship the Major animadverted in unmeasured terms this afternoon upon the local Press appropriating the proposed expenditure of £92,000 upon the Hamil-ton-Te Aroha line of railway to the Hamilton-Te Awamutu line, already finished. We hare referred to the telegrams, and find therein—" Hamilton* Te Awamutu, to complete, £92,000." That ii ocular demonstration. However, our remarks were not based upon any inch assumption. We were satisfied that the railway would be made to Te Aroha— the land and bank interest was strong enough to manage that. But what we did feel a grievous injustice was that a work that had been promised and spoken in favor of by members of the late and present Ministries, viz., that connecting the Borough with Te Aroha, should be left out in the cold. That is the point the public meeting took into consideration, and the petition adopted thereat solicited that the railway should be con* tinued from Hamilton to the Borough.
