An inquest on the body of Sarah. Adams found in the creek near Fapakai on 2nd, commenced at Pebbles this afternoon. Evidence was given of Beatfcie having about the time the woman disappeared, left a blood stained razor with a local hotel-keeper, saying his wif.3 had been catting a fowl's neck with it, and asking the hotel keeper to clean it. He had been at the hotel about the time of the woman's disappearance and remained all night, and the hotelkeeper said he had heard Beattie had gone out of the hotel during the night but could not say positively. The next witness, Warewood, saiii he had found the dead body of the woman in a water course and had helped to dl*g it out. W. H. Scott, surveyor, said he had made a plau of the spot where the body had been discovered, and was of opinion that the body bad been artificially covered with gravel, and gave as, his reasons ihat~thefe_w_ejfe_footprints. on the bank as if left by a person using~a-spKd©—i
