This day. Judge Gillies arrived last night per Te Anau ; also the Zulu War Panorama.
Twelve officers of the H.M.S. Nelson started for Waiwera in a ship's cutter on Saturday. A search party sent out on ! Saturday found them in Drunken Bay, where they had been compelled to shelter. Commander Henderson and Capt. Osborne have gone to Botorua. ■•*
Sergt. McGovern has received intimation from the Superintendent of Police that all moneys advanced by him for the. capture of Winiata, although totally unauthorised expenditure, will be refunded him at once. The matter was undertaken solely on McGovern's own responsibility.
The licensed victuallers of Wanganui, Waverley, Patea, Hawera, and other places on the West Coast have forwarded a petition to Parliament recommending alterations in the Licensing Act. Hugh Mcllhone, late of the Thames, and now of Wacganui, is now in Wellington in connection with his petition.
