To J. T.Davenport, Esq., 33, Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London.—"Dear Sir, —We embrace this opportunity of congratulating you upon the wide-spread reputation UtiV justly esteemed medicine, De. Coixib Bbownb's Chxobodtne, has earned for itself, noTon!/ in Hindoßtsn, but ali over the East. As a remedy of general utility, we 1 much question whether a better is imported into the country, and we chall be glad to hear of its finding a'place in every Anglo-Indian home. The other brands, we are happy to say, are now relegated to tbe native bazaars, and, judging from their sale, ,we fancy-their sojourn there will be but evanescent. We could multiply instances ad infinitum of the extraordinary efficacy' of Db. Coliis Beownb's Chioeodtnb in Diarrhoea and Dysentery, Spasms, Cramps, 'Neuralgia, the Vomiting of Pregnancy, and as a general sedative, that have occurred under our personal observation during many years. In Choleraic Diarrhoea, and evrn in tbe more terrible forma of Cholera itself, wo have witnessed its surprisingly controlling power. We have never used any other form of Ibis medicine than ColJis Browne's,. from a firm conviction that it is decidedly the best, and also from a tense of duty we ewe to tbe profession and the public, as we are of opinion .that tbe substitution of any other than Collis Browne's .is a sbljbsbatb BEEACH OF FAITH ON THE PAET 07 THE CHEMIST TO PBKCBIBiE A>D PATIEKT ALIKB. The value of this well known Family MedU cine has been largely tested in all parts of the world, and by all grades of society, for up ! wards of FIFTY YEARS. Its well-earned extensive sale has induced SPURIOUS ', IMITATIONS, some of which in OUTWARD APPEARANCE bo closely resemble the original as to have deceived many pur- | chasers. On all diseases arising from early indisore- j tions. ■■ ■ ' '" ■'■■ ' ...| On Gout. On Rheumatism. In these colonies those excesses which we have indulged in " hot youth " tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repining futile. The sole idea should be the chance we possess of remedying the ills we already have, for combatting the effects likely to result. Hide it as he may, put on as good an exterior as he can, still is the victim conscious that he is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices will discover him to the world. Our Faith, our obligations to society at large, the welfare of our future offspring, and the duty, we owe to ourselves forbids procrastination, and points out to us, not to wait till the ravages break out in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk; before employing a barrister, a careful man makes enquiries as thoir standing, their length of occupancy or residence; and, in the case of a legal adviser, both as to his legal qualifications' and us to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults him upon. Strange to say, however, in the selection of medical man, the'sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions and without regard to tho' fitness, qualification, exporionco' and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the nearest mant whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope and money ? Have I not for years pointed out to them that I, •Dr L. L. Smith, am the only legally qualified medical man advertising in the Cohniet ? Have I not also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling,—such as Phosphodyne Essence of Life, &c—and had them analysed and found them to consist of "Burnt Sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates '. have pbovbs to be all forgeries. It is for this reason that I step out of the ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who require the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally 1 qualified man, and one, moreover, who has made this his especial study. Dr L. L. Smith is the only legally qualified medical man advertising, and he has been in Melbourne 24 years, in full practice on NERVOUS DISEASES LOSS OF POWER AND DEBILITY SYPHILITIC AFFECTIONS" WANT. OF CONDITION GOUT AND RHEUMATISM. Da L. L. SMITH can be consulted by let-, ter—Fee, £1. Medicines forwarded to all the colonies. Da L. L.
