The Collector of Customs at Wanganui prosecuted here, in three cases, under the Beer Duty Act. Yesterday, William James Gibbons, a brewer, was fined twenty pounds end costs for using an illegal stamp, the Magistrate holding that the penalty imposed was a fixed one, but recommended a rebate. Frai.cis Mullen and James O'Sullivan, publicans, were each fined 20i and costs for using wrong stamps.
