G. Skinner has been arrested on a charge of forgery and horse stealing, and remanded'to the 16lh. A man named Wm. Elson, a stevedore, died suddenly this morning while at work stowing wool on board the ship Piako. An inquest will be held. It is probable thai .an~ac!ion will be takep against' tbj^euwho~<**jrere engaged in frweepg at the Hutt races on the 30fch.. The declaration of the poll for South Wellington took place today, when Hutchison was declared elected. The numbers were unaltered except one vote taken off Huiciiiaon, and one off Edwards. 1 > At the official declaration of Te Aro the numbers were 1 unaltered.
