During the last fifteen years be has been practising in Auckland and the province, but his studies previous to that period having been under the direction of S. C. Clendon, Esq., M.R.C.P., F.R.S., and Lecturer on Dental Surgery in the Westminster Hospital, London, whera he has enjoyed peculiar opportunites of gaining Thorough Practical Knowledge of the Diseases and Irregularities to which the Teeth are liable, and such extensive practice as can only be obtained at a large Metropolitan Hospital. Mr Athebton, by bis personal knowledge and superintendance of the mechanical department of his profession, secures to his patients, without pain, an easy and comfortable adaptation to the mouth, when the use of artificial teeth is required. The Teeth supplied by him received the only Prize Medals at the International Exhibitions of London and Paris, and are fitted to the mouth on the newest and most approved principles, so as to defy detection, also restoring the original and youthful appearance of the face. Mr A. has at much trouble and expense imported from London several descriptions of Stoppings much used at home. These Stop* pings resist the aotion of the acid secretions of the mouth, and entirely prevents any metallic taste —a complaint frequently made. It is placed in the Tooth in a soft state, and soon becomes hard, and if resorted to in time renders the extraction of the Tooth unnecessary.
