HOPEFUL.
The manager reports as follows:—On account of the tightness of tiie country in each drive on the cross lode, but little progress has been made during the past week. In the drive going towards the JSo. 1 leader two small stringers were cut through, each v of them carrying gold. Saw a few colours iD the cross lode. The lode in both drives ie rather small.
I have had. but onp breaking down in the underhand stope on JSFo. 1 leader; Saw colours of gold s but uo picked stone. Have not reached to where the gold was left ia. the floor. I have one man driving on a small leader about 6 feet from the No. I, it ie running parallel with it, aiid carrying colours of gold. Lucks-All leader :In each breaking down I have seen good colours of gold, and should not be surprised to get a patch at any breaking down. The leader is '
