WAITEKAURI.

(fbom oub own corbebpondent.) Waitekaubi, Not. 19,1881. Waitekaubi No. 3.—Driving on the reef, with three shifts, is stilt being continued in this mine. The reef in the south end of the drive is now three feet thick, and of the same solid character as on my last visit. Stoping from the tributers' quartz pass will be commenced next week, which will greatly add to the output of the quartz, and, when crushed, should yield well, showing gold freely and being well mineralized. Just-in-Time.—Two shifts are engaged driving the crosscut in this mine, and hate now been driren about 12 feet; a further distance of 30 feet will hare to be driven to cut the reef. The tramway is almost completed as far as this mine. The Caledonian is a piece of ground pegged Out by Mr Bayldon, and joins the Justin-Timeon the south end, and should stand a good chance, of getting chat company's reef. Work will be started in this mine in a few days. The contractors in the City of Dublin are making good headway in the drive, being in now about 30 feet. The ground is still tight. The Hawk.—The contractors in this mine have started work with three shifts, and are making good progress with the drive. This level will open up an entirely new run of country,,and it is to be hoped something good will be met with. Waitekaubi Co.—A fine reef has been cut in the ground lately known as Hollis' tribute. Since the Company took the ground over from the tributers they have had six men working in it, and on con* tinning the cross-cut on the Smithy level, they found the above named reef, which is four feet thick, and shows gold freely. A large block of ground will soon' be opened in this part of the mine. Very little interest was taken in the County elections up here. The poll was declared in the presence of two nonelectors, who cheered lustily. ' ■.' I hear that Mr Sheppard has disposed of his store to Mr Mears, of Pollen street.
