(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sir,—l find that Mr Brodie is up to some of his clean work again, for I bear that he has sent circulars around to most of the ratepayers of the Wniotahi Biding, calling upon his friends and supporters (which he takes thorn all to be) to meet at the Gresham hall this evening. Now, sir, I consider it an insult to the ratepayers after what he said at the polling booth when the result was made known on Wednesday last, for he distinctly told the ratepayers on that occasion that they had no right to bring nny candidate out for the Council without first consulting himself, (Mr Brodie,) and Coutts. I suppose j because he goes under the pseudonym ! of the Fakir and King of the Waiotabi that he really is such, and tbat no person has any right to do or say anything political without first consulting His Highness and Coutts. I must say, in my opinion, it was the greatest piece of presumption that I ever heard of, and I hope the electors of the Coromandel electorate will show Mr Brodie that he is not King over them altogether, and that they can appreciate honor in preference to humbug vSnd conceit, and also that they are not to be bought by a barrel of beer, neither by the directors of companies in Auckland, but that every man will give his. vote for the future welfare of the country and r.pt to a set of money and land grippers like Wbitaker, Hall and Co. and theii hangers on, which lam sorry to say the place is full of.—l am, &c, Honesty.
