ELECTION MATTERS.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
. Sib,—l think somebody must be mis* informing Mr Sheehao about the true state of affairs at the Thames, or else he would never stand as a candidate for the House of Representatives for here. Everywhere I go, there is an outcry for a local man. I also think that Thames candidates have a just cause to complain that Mr Sheehan should interfere, too, in trying to get the volunteers (as a favor) what they ought to have as a rightnamely, all the pay that they agreed for. It looks too much like saying, " I will do you a favor in trying to get you your money, on condition that you promise me your vote." Mr Sbeehan is now too much mixed up with the large land sharks for making us a good representative.—l am, &c, J. Hobn.
