The Hon Mr Dick went south per Penguin last night. ' The Government have received the following information,—Mr Bryce is about to complete the selection of Ngaraur v natives, and great difficulty arises in getting their wives to join them prior to despatching them to Wanganui. The houses of the Wanganui natives have been picked out and destroyed. It was hoped the Maori women would come forward and pick out their property which had been carefully preserved, but they have not done so.
Monday. Government hare decided to hold another sale of land on the Wai mate Plains, at the back of the continuous reserve. The sale will comprise from 6000 to 8000 acres, principally of bush land, and will take place the week before Christmas.
