REFORM.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sib,—By the catogram in your issue of Saturday, we arc informed that Mr Gladstone intends to introduce a measure for the reform of Parliament. I trust, Sir, some of our would be politicians will undertake to introduce a measure here for the benefit of New Zeoland, and not wait to follow in the footsteps of the Old Country, but make laws suitable for a new one. There is any amount of room for reform here. I could fill your columns for some fime, but hope some one will save me the trouble. One reform is needed in the mode of our elections. Personally it would be of more advantage did I have no vote, for I am sure to offend some one', and for the life of me I have never been able to understand the advantage of giving a man a vote if he is not allowed to use it as he likes ; and he is not allowed to do so, for it is often the cause of a man losing his livelihood, and of another getting more than he ought. This is in my opinion, bribery and corruption in its worst form, and which always has been, and will be till altered. It is hopeless to expect a man can vote according to his conscience when his living depends on the side he votes. I know the man who does so will never rise under our present laws, and is considered a fool if he is a laboring man and bas an opinion of his own.—l am, &c, P.B.P.
