Electora the future, in order to secure the continued prosperity of the Colony. I am opposed to the acquisition of large areas of native lands by private persons or companies for speculative purposes. It may appear almost unn> cessary for me to refer to purely locnl questions, my opinions on such being probably well known, but I may say that the construction of the Thames and Waikato railway, the acquisition of the freehold of the goldfield, and the throwing open of all lands for settlement are matters that would claim my earliest attention. As it is my intention to personally address you at an eatly date, I shall take that opportunity of enlarging upon the matters referred to above, and shall also speak upon other subjects of interest to the electors.
