OUR LEGAL CANDIDATE.
(To the Editor of the Evening StU.) J Sib,—l have been trying to answer the j terse and pointed questions of Wm. Hazlett regarding the above gentleman in tbe affirmative. I have well considered each question separately, but I am sorry lo Bay that I cannot so answer either without reservation. Many years ago, when this gentleman first appeared on the Thames, I remember making a phrenological <ur* vey of his many strange peculiarities and contradictions of character; the conclusion I then formed of him, by since reading and watching, I have observed has been fully borne out. Has he not sold his constituency and his country for the little apple of the land sharks P Who of common sense, common honesty, and probity will support this clever special pleader for seltp His pot companions may, but those who value true liberal principles more than men will support a local candidate whose character is well known to them from observation, because of his residence at the Thames, and of these, happily, We have more than one to choose from.—l am, &c., \ William Wood.
