This day. Last nigiit Madame Lottie VPilmot being refused the key of the Papanui 'Town Hall, which she had hired for a lecture, assaulted the secretary of the Town Hall Company with a supplejack. On Saturday next a meeting will be held.at Leeston to consider the advisability of bringing forward a candidate to oppose the Hon. John Hall. Mr G. G. Stead, now in England, has purchased nine thoroughbred mares and one yearling colt, and shipped them for Lyttelton. Metropolitan Meeting.—The Fbee Handicap : Billiugsgate, 1; Chancellor, 2; Talent, 3. Won by half a length ; time, lmin 46|secs.
