T ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— It having been represented to me by feveral of the ratepayers of your riding that being a proprietor of a large portion of Block 27 my interest and attention would naturally be directed to the advancement of that property alone, and as such a feeling is quite foreign to my aim and wish, which is the advancement of the Thames District, the development of its mineral resorces, the settlement and progress of its agricultural lands, the opening up of its roads, and the establishment of its local industries, I have decided to offer myself as a candidate for a district in which my ownership of land is but small —that of Parawai, to the Ratepayers of which District I have addressed a notice of my intention to Accept the Eequisition they have done me the honor to send. I ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,li Having This Day been Nominated as a Candidate for the Representation of the Ohinemuri Riding in the Thames County Council, I have the honor to request your Votes and Interest. I will endeavor to have a fair share of the revenue of the colony expended in the Ohinemuri district, and especial attention paid to the' construction of the main or trunk Hues of road"-a matter of the greatest consequence' to the ratepayers. lam in favor of the Gold -Duty being expended in the district that produces the gold from which it is received. I am in favor of having all works done by bona fide contractors and all over* lookers and bosses discharged. I am in favor of the Engineering being tendered for and paid by commission, and if assistants are required, the engineer in* charge to pay such. I also pledge myself to use my best endeavours, if returned, to give to all the pioneer settlers assistance in having roads made ; the first to come should be the first to be served. My interests in matters Agricultural and Mining are identical with your'own, and if I am returned my best services are at your disposal.
