The first retorting of 355 ounces was from the picked stone, also the second of 139 ounces, mailing a total of 424 ounces from the picked stone alone ; the general stuff gare 172 ounces. These tributers hare crushed 21 tons during the year. The gross yield was 4830zs being an average of 23ozs to the ton. Gem.—The leader is making for the line of the Tokatea reef, the level being near the surface. The country is somewhat broken, but the leader is well-defined, looking better on the floor of the drive than on the roof. On the. floor the reef is compact, and, with casing, measured 18 iuohes wide. Thirty feet of driving was done during the week in a nice, easily worked channel of country. A orossout has been started from the wain drive into the body of the hill to test the ground * hitherto broken into.
